Overview:

The Library of the Faculty of Pharmacy of Monastir is a university library founded on November 14, 1975.
It provides its users with a collection of documents related to pharmaceutical sciences and other disciplines taught at the Faculty of Pharmacy. The library acquires, preserves and provides access to all these documents, and also offers document processing service.
It is a member of the BIRUNI catalogue (University Resources Library) and also affiliated with the CNUDST (National University Center for Scientific and Technical Documentation).
 
Mission of the Library

The mission of the library is to support teaching, research and learning within the institution. It provides access to a vast collection of documentary resources, such as books, articles, journals, databases and digital resources.
In addition, the library plays an essential role in training students and researchers in information retrieval, data management and the use of digital tools. It also offers suitable workspaces.
It contributes to the enrichment of knowledge and the diversity of resources available by monitoring documentary developments.
Finally, the library is committed to promoting access to information for all through its information specialists, who record and process the bibliographic references of each document registered in the library on the BIRUNI platform (www.biruni.tn).

Opening hours and service counter
  • Monday to Friday: 8:00 am to 5:00 PM
  • Saturday: 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM.
Reading room hours are flexible according to users’ needs and may extend from 8:00 AM to midnight.
Any change in hours will be announced to students by public notice.
 
Documentary Collection

The Library of the Faculty of Pharmacy of Monastir holds a rich collection of documents relating to pharmaceutical sciences and other disciplines taught at the Faculty. The collection contains various types of documents:
Types of Documents
The Faculty of Pharmacy library provides its users with approximately 16,233 documents, as detailed below:
  •  Monographs: There are approximately 5,079 titles and 9,657 copies (www.biruni.tn).
  • Encyclopaedias: EMC Akos, Haematology and Infectious Diseases with updates (www.biruni.tn).
  • TAcademic Theses and Dissertations: 4,174 titles and 5,117 copies.  Each student must submit their work to the library in both print and digital (PDF) formats, with a maximum file size of 6 MB, as follows:
 
  • Doctor of Pharmacy thesis: 1 printed copy and 1 CD containing the PDF (www.biruni.tn).
 
  • Master’s thesis (Research, Professional, C.E.C.): 2 printed copies and 1 CD containing the PDF (www.biruni.tn).
 
  • Doctorate in Pharmaceutical and Biological Sciences: 1 printed copy and 1 CD containing the PDF (www.biruni.tn).
  • Final-year pharmaceutical studies dissertations: 1,454 paper copies 
  • CD-ROM Archive :    The library has approximately 4,174 digital copies (CD-ROMs) of each academic work submitted by students. This type of digital resource is widely consulted by library users. Bibliographic references and PDFs are stored in a local database, accessible either via email request or onsite consultation.
 
  • Electronic Resources : There are two types of electronic resources available at the library, and widely used by all library users:

Access terms and conditions

All electronic resources are available from the CNUDST website. Mission of the CNUDST
The primary mission of the National University Center for Scientific and Technical Documentation (CNUDST) is to collect, process and disseminate scientific and technical information to researchers. It aims to enhance the value of research output and contributes to the promotion of Tunisian scientific production,
The CNUDST monitors documentary resources, provides researchers with access to the necessary global scientific literature, and establishes agreements with international publishers in various specialities to provide access to full-text journals and databases for use by academic institutions. It also collaborates with international publishers to organize training sessions for students and researchers.
Training organised by CNUDST
The CNUDST (https://www.cnudst.rnrt.tn/) organises training courses either in person at academic institutions or online via webinars, in collaboration with various publishers.

 
Online loan procedures

To access the bibliographic references of documents available in the library and benefit from its services, either on-site consultation or home loans, users must register on the Biruni platform http://www.biruni.tn/espace-lecteur.php and have an account validated by the Library.
Onsite consultation
- Access to the library is granted exclusively upon presentation of a valid student card.
- All documents in the library can be consulted on site.
- Each reader may consult a maximum of four items at a time.
- Users must search for documents through the Biruni system.
- For each requested document, a special consultation form must be completed, and the user’s student card will be held until the document is returned.
- This operation will be carried out by library staff on the Biruni platform (online loan).
- Items for which only one copy exists, can only be consulted on site.
- Students who borrow one or two works to consult on site and do not return them on the same day will lose onsite consultation privileges for one month.
Online Home Loan
The home loan is reserved exclusively for teachers, students, and staff belonging to the Faculty of Pharmacy.
Atlases, periodicals, dictionaries, encyclopaedias, rare books, periodicals, and reference works are excluded from home loans.
Home loans are available daily from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Students may borrow documents according to the annual loan regulations posted by the library.
All documents borrowed must be returned on the next working day.
For each home loan, the student must complete a dedicated form and leave his library card, which will be returned when the borrowed item is returned.
Each home loan operation will be recorded on the Biruni Portal.
 
Recommendations

In the interest of everyone and out of respect, please ensure that the library's materials are not lost, damaged, or marked.
All users are required to:
  •  Maintain absolute silence in the reading rooms and hallways
  •  Show respect to library staff and personnel
  • Refrain from smoking or eating food or drink inside the reading rooms
  •  Dress appropriately.
Disciplinary measures for non-compliance
In cases of inappropriate behaviour, rudeness, or indiscipline, the student will be denied access to the library and their library card will be suspended for one to two weeks, depending on the severity of the incident. In case of repeated offences, the library card will be permanently revoked.
In the event of loss or damage to library materials, access will be denied ; Their library card will be withdrawn until the book is replaced or reimbursed.
A student who fails to return a home-loaned item by the due date will lose home loan privileges for one month.
