CSC: CLINICAL PHYTOTHERAPY APPLIED TO DISEASES
OBJECTIVES
The main objective of this CSC is to establish an innovative educational program that consolidates current training, enabling the acquisition of professional skills with the aim of gradually integrating of high-quality phytotherapy into daily medical practice, drawing on the concepts of endobiogeny, integrative medicine, and functional biology.
In addition, the partners of this program aim to:
- Promote the development of clinical and pharmaceutical research conducted by professors, physicians, biologists, and pharmacists in Tunisia
- Enhance the value of research outcomes through the production of new phytomedicines in Tunisia.
TARGET AUDIENCE
- Pharmacists, physicians, dentists, and residents
- Other healthcare professionals (subject to approval by the faculty)
PROGRAM
The CSC curriculum focuses on the following disease areas:
1. Digestive accessory glands
2. Digestive system
3. Genitourinary system
4. Dermatological
5. Bronchopulmonary-ENT
6. Metabolic
7. Osteoarticular
8. Neurological
Each condition will be addressed in a three-day seminar Friday-Saturday-Sunday).
Structure of each seminar:
- Pharmaceutical lectures (4h): Delivered by professors from the faculty of Pharmacy every Friday morning (Annex 2).
- Integrated medical teaching (10h): Followed by a 2-hour tutorial session, conducted by medical phytotherapists and professors from the faculty of Medicine, on Friday afternoons and throughout Saturdays.
- Integrated pharmaceutical teaching (2–3h): Delivered by pharmacist phytotherapists, focusing on pharmacy-based counseling for phytomedicines and monographs of the main medicinal plants addressed in the medical sessions.
- Practical sessions (Sunday mornings):
- For physicians: Group clinical examination of a patient, in accordance with the form provided in Annex 5 (3–5h).
- For pharmacists: Preparation of a phytopharmaceutical formulation.
- Thematic workshop (3–4h).
